Order of the Pelican |
The Order of the Pelican is a Society-wide order that is awarded for significant services to the Society. It is one of five Bestowed Peerages. The order bestows a Patent of Arms and the members are titled "Master" or "Mistress" or other ethnic or linguistic variation. In addition, they are entitled to wear a badge of either A pelican vulning herself or A pelican in her piety. Some Pelicans choose to take on associates or students referred to as protégés.
History
The first recipient of the Order of the Pelican was Bevin Fraser of Sterling in 1972.
