Introduction
Satrakes joined the SCA in the fall of 1999 and briefly spent some time looking into Viking-era Russia (under the persona/name Olsk Buslavl') before being enthralled simultaneously by both 12th c. CE France/Occitania and ancient Eurasian steppes cultures. For a time, he opted to focus on Occitania and took up the persona Olivier de Bayonne.
For several years until his own elevation to the Order of the Laurel, Olivier was apprenticed to both Efenwealt Wystle and Aenor d'Anjou, learning how to improve himself in the courtly and performing arts.
He has spent much of his time in the SCA composing and discussing poetry, engaging in armored and rapier combat, and dabbling in a range of arts commonly pursued by many SCAdians (from leatherworking to armoring to costuming).
After taking a few years off for graduate school, Olivier returned to the Society and opted to turn his attention to the ancient Eurasian steppes cultures he had long been interested in, especially 5th-2nd c. BCE Scythian and Sarmatian cultures. He created a new persona, Satrakes Skuthes, to help reflect that focus and his assorted endeavors/recreations in the Society.

The Greek spelling of Satrakes' name is Σατράκης Σκύθης. His name can/should be pronounced as follows:

Persona
Satrakes Skuthes is a nomadic Scythian on the Pontic steppe in the 4th c. BCE, occasionally making his way further eastward toward Samarkand and Gandhara.
