Introduction

I'm known in the SCA as Signora Grazia Morgano.

I heard about the SCA through Tamora Pierce's message boards when I was a teenager. My parents were far less enthused, so I convinced my high school teachers to let me do papers on medieval stuff, and I spent a lot of time on the old SCA-Garb mailing list. Finally, I finished college, got a car, and went to Pennsic 40! I showed up at 10pm in a compact car with two dresses and two camicie. I still wear those dresses.

I am known for my garb, which is almost all hand sewn. (I'm really bad at using a sewing machine, so if I have time to sew it by hand, I do!) I'm interested in anything involving string and have at least tried all the string things I can think of.

Archery involves a string.

Grazia is pronounced GRAHT-see-ah. Roll the "r" if you can. My pronouns are she/her.

• Finished the black silk kirtle, including a doppia
• Faux blackwork waistcoat with hook & eye closure
• Remade my green under skirt to be an over skirt for wearing with the jacket

• Smokkr (apron dress) based on the Kostrup find, for Mistress Janina Krakowska's elevation to the Order of the Laurel
• Started on a black silk kirtle to wear to Janina's elevation (household colors), based on Juan de Alcega; fitting by Mistress Drea

• Remade my red dress for better fit in the sleeves and a less full skirt

• My first floor loom project: red silk garters, of 60/2 silk at 45 ends per inch
• Pattens, made from poplar wood (using power tools)

• Entered Persona Pentathlon at KASF with a 10th century Danish, each scored out of max 100:
  • smokkr (apron dress), scores 93 and 95
  • serk (shirt), scores 89, 93, 94
  • hand-carved stone spindle whorl, scores 78 and 85
  • Icelandic yarn, scores 54 and 94
  • dyed Icelandic wool, scores 75 and 98
• Participated in Realm of Venus' Italian Ren Costume Challenge, making a 4-piece outfit in 3 months (...while I was supposed to be sewing my wedding dress)
