The Queen of Atlantia is the woman who is currently reigning over Atlantia. She is addressed as "Your Majesty" or "Your Royal Majesty" and referred to in the third person as "Queen (given name)." She may wear a crown to indicate her rank. If she is Sovereign, she is the person who won the crown tournament. If she is consort, then she is the person for whom sovereign fought.
Royalty is claimed through "Right of Arms" (armored combat). Queens are selected twice a year at the Spring and Fall Crown Tournaments. The female winner of the Crown Tournament, or the female consort of the winner, becomes the Heir Apparent (the Crown Princess). This means when the reigning Queen steps down, she will be next to be crowned Queen, at which time she will rule for approximately six (6) months.
Those who have reigned as queen are inducted into The Order of the Rose upon completion of their reign. A Countess is a woman who has reigned as queen once. A Duchess is a woman who has reigned as queen more than once.
