Order of Chivalry

The Order of Chivalry is a Society-wide order that is awarded for excellence in armored combat. It is one of the four major Bestowed Peerages. The order bestows a Patent of Arms and the members may choose to become a Knight or a Master or Mistress at Arms.

Knights swear fealty to the Crown and are titled "Sir" or "Dame" or other ethnic or linguistic variation. In addition, they are entitled to wear a white belt, an unadorned gold chain, and spurs. Some Knights choose to take on associates who are known as squires.

Masters and Mistresses at Arms do not swear fealty to the Crown and are titled "Master" or "Mistress" or other ethnic or linguistic variation. In addition, they are entitled to wear a white baldric (worn crosswise from shoulder to hip). They do not wear a chain (which is a symbol of fealty to the Crown) or spurs. Some choose to take on associates who are known as squires or theigns. To date, no one inducted into Atlantia's Chivalry has ever done so as a Master or Mistress at Arms.
