Introduction

Persona

I was initially interested in early Welsh history and culture and picked my name based on that. Then I got extremely into 5th-11th century English arts and culture, with an emphasis on ~7th century Kent. Most of my art and garb is focused on this area.

Offices & Positions

  • Exchequer, Barony of Storvik. 2007-2012ish?
  • Chronicler, Barony of Storvik. 2013ish - 2018
  • Pretty sure I was a deputy KMoAS for performing arts? But the office didn't require much.
  • About to step up as Storvik's seneschal.
  • Poeta Atlantiae in maybe 2008 or so.
  • Baronial Bard a bunch of times.

I am not interested in being recommended to any service Orders.

Projects & Publications

I keep a blog called Mi Contra Fa. It has links to my original bardic works, many of my class handouts, and articles on other arts I have tried, organized by tags.

Heraldry

I picked "Teleri" from a list of names in the Mabinogion. I did not pick "the Well-Prepared." I was at a camping event in college, and all around me my college buddies were asking for things they had forgotten: can opener, garbage bag, matches, and so on. And I always said, "Here you go," and passed them the relevant item. "Teleri, you're so well-prepared!" one said. They all looked at each other, then looked at me and smiled, and I knew my byname had been chosen.

Mistress Tangwystll (mka Heather Rose Jones, aka The Welsh Goddess) was on duty at the Heraldry tent at Pennsic when I bumbled in and helped me with my name and device, which are handily shown in the sidebar. She and I agreed that a Welsh name with an English byname wasn't likely to fly, so she suggested "Barod," which means "Ready."

It's pronounced tell-AIR-ee buh-ROAD. (I had to use Google to check "Barod," which I often say "BAH-rod." I'm not fussed about how you say it.)
