The '''Sovereign of Atlantia''' is a monarch of Atlantia, entitled to wear a crown, to be addressed as Your Majesty, to sit the throne, and to give awards to Atlantia's subjects. The Atlantian monarch rules in conjunction with his/her/their consort and in accordance with [https://atlantia.sca.org/officers/seneschal/governing-documents/ Atlantian Law] and with the advice of their [[Curia Regis]]. 

They are addressed as "Your Majesty" or "Your Royal Majesty" and referred to in the third person as "King/Queen/Sovereign (given name)," depending on gender. They may wear a [[crown]] to indicate their rank. 

The monarchs of the Atlantia are chosen by right of combat twice a year at the [[Spring Crown Tournament|Spring]] and [[Fall Crown Tournament]]s. The winner of the Crown Tournament becomes the [[Heir Apparent]] (the [[Sovereign's Heir]]). This means when the reigning Sovereign steps down, they will be next to be crowned Sovereign, ascending the thrones as King and Queen at a [[Coronation]] event, and will rule for approximately six (6) months.

A [[Count]] or [[Countess]] is a person who has reigned as Sovereign once. A [[Duke]] or [[Duchess]] is a person who has reigned as Sovereign more than once.
